Book Buddy exists to build readers—and through them, thinkers.
Beyond reading, we intentionally support learning in English and Communication, Mathematics, and Science through meaning and context. Children select their own books and are mentored to analyse ideas, articulate thoughts, and draw connections across disciplines. Learning is immersive and unfolds without performance pressure.
We believe that understanding grows best when children feel unhurried and respected.
Book Buddy is also a community anchored in shared learning. While children remain at the centre of everything we do, we are equally committed to creating room for adults to return to reading—to slow down, reflect, and continue learning alongside their children, thereby building reading journeys together.
Our vision is simple and deliberate: to make reading a habit, learning a pleasure, and stories a foundation for thoughtful, lifelong growth.

Prasitha
Founder – Book Buddy Lending Library and Organisation
Short Bio
Prasitha is the founder of Book Buddy Lending Library and Organisation—a space shaped by her enduring relationship with stories, learning, and community. She believes that stories play a vital role in shaping identity and understanding. This belief is central to Book Buddy and guides how learning experiences are designed and shared.
Her journey is rooted in a rare blend of technology, finance, and education. With a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Prasitha began her career as a Software Engineer at TCS, developing a strong technical mindset. She later spent nearly a decade with the State Bank of India, building deep expertise in banking and financial services. As a trained Business Analyst, she approaches every system and space she builds with intention, clarity, and long-term vision.
Yet, education has always remained her constant. Alongside her professional work, Prasitha dedicated over three years to volunteering with Bhumi, where she served as a National Coordinator and contributed to large-scale learning and social impact initiatives. As a Teach For India Fellow, she returned fully to the classroom—an experience that reaffirmed her purpose and reshaped her vision of what meaningful learning for children can look like.
Teaching is not just what she does—it is who she is. As a mentor and content creator, Prasitha has worked closely with over 50 children through personalised sessions and led immersive online story circles. From coding and baking to exploring emerging AI tools, she believes in growing alongside the children. A devoted reader and storyteller, she sees curiosity as the beginning of all learning and imagination as its greatest strength.
Through Book Buddy, Prasitha brings together her lived experiences, values, and love for stories to create a space that feels safe, thoughtful, and alive—a place where children are encouraged not only to read and learn, but to question, imagine, and discover both the world around them and the stories within themselves.

Dharshana Kathiresan
Curator and Content Lead
Short Bio
Dharshana Kathiresan is the Curator and Content Lead at Book Buddy Lending Library and Organisation, where she brings stories, language, and learning together with care and intention. As an English educator for children, Dharshana designs the library’s academic curriculum and shapes its content across programs and initiatives. She also serves as the editor of the library-run newspaper, guiding young voices as they learn to express ideas, ask questions, and tell their own stories.
A passionate reader and thoughtful storyteller, Dharshana believes that words have the power to build empathy, confidence, and imagination. She enjoys meaningful films, reflective conversations, and the quiet joy of discovering new books. Always learning and evolving, she approaches both teaching and life with curiosity and openness.
Through her work at Book Buddy, Dharshana helps create a space where stories are not just read, but felt—and where children grow into thoughtful readers, writers, and individuals.
